Student Award Nomination

The Department of Nutrition & Dietetics recognizes outstanding students for their exceptional contributions to the department, the University, and their greater community.

Nominations are requested by 11:59 pm on April 15. Students are welcome to self-nominate, too! Recipients of the awards will be honored at the N&D Spring Banquet.

Outstanding Student Leader Award 

Recognizes undergraduate students who have exhibited exemplary contributions through their leadership in or outside of the classroom, personal integrity, and service to their student organization, the university and/or the greater community. All students majoring in nutrition and dietetics who are members of a nutrition or health-related student, community, or professional organization are eligible for consideration Outstanding Student Leader. 

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes outstanding students for their  exceptional contributions to the department, the university and their greater community. 

The Outstanding Student Leader Award recognizes undergraduate students who have exhibited exemplary contributions through their leadership in or outside of the classroom, personal integrity, and service to their student organization, the university and/or the greater community. All students majoring in nutrition and dietetics who are members of a nutrition or health-related student, community, or professional organization are eligible for consideration Outstanding Student Leader.  

Instructions for Submitting Nominations

Thank you for nominating a student for the student leader award! For the committee to evaluate your nomination, we request that you answer each of the following prompts completely and include examples of how the nominee excels in the following attributes.   

  1. Name of individual you would like to nominate:
  2. Describe the nominee’s participation or special responsibilities in volunteer work and/or  in service-learning projects:
  3. Describe contributions the nominee has made to SAND, other university and community organizations or as a student member of professional organizations (AND, NDNC, SNEB, other), as applicable: 
  4. Describe other considerations that are unique to your nominee, such as honors received or other attributes that you would like to share:

Nominate a Student - Outstanding Student Leader Award

Outstanding Graduating Senior Award

Recognizes seniors in each undergraduate degree offered within the Department, have exhibited academic excellence, and are leaders in the Department, on campus, in the profession of nutrition and dietetics, or their greater community. Students graduating in May, August, or December with a B.S. in Dietetics degree or a B.S. in Human Nutrition degree are eligible for consideration in their respective majors. 

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes outstanding students for their exceptional contributions to the department, the university and their greater community.

Recognizes graduate students in the Master of Science program in Nutrition who have exhibited academic excellence and are leaders in the classroom, work setting, the profession of nutrition and dietetics, or in their greater community. Students currently enrolled in a Master of Science in Nutrition program are eligible for this award.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes outstanding students for their exceptional contributions to the department, the university and their greater community.

The Outstanding Graduate Student Award recognizes graduate students in the Master of Science program in Nutrition who have exhibited academic excellence and are leaders in the classroom, work
setting, the profession of nutrition and dietetics, or in their greater community. Students currently enrolled in a Master of Science in Nutrition program are eligible for this award.

Thank you for nominating a student for a student leader award! For the committee to evaluate your nomination, we request that you answer each of the following prompts completely and include examples of how the nominee excels in the following attributes.

  1. Name of individual you would like to nominate:
  2. Describe the nominee’s participation in academics. Please include any actions that stand out in the classroom (taking more than the required 30 credits, or a heavy credit load), going above and beyond to help other students, or attending additional learning opportunities through the graduate school, the Department, or campus (i.e. meetings with the Writing Center, attending workshops on library resources, etc.) If the student has any publications or professional presentations, please list these here. If the student is seeking additional coursework, training, or certification above the MS courses please tell us here.
  3. Describe contributions the nominee has made in any leadership capacity on campus, in professional organizations, work requirements, or in their community.  This could include volunteer activities, holding a position on a leadership board, or serving as a preceptor/mentor to other undergraduate students.  It may also include additional responsibilities at work or in a volunteer position, like offering presentations or workshops. 
  4. Describe other considerations that are unique to your nominee, such as honors received or other attributes that you would like to share.  This could include any particular hardships the student has overcome or personal triumphs worth recognizing, activities or experiences that highlight resiliency and commitment to their academic achievements.
