Research & Scholarship Day
Undergraduate and graduate students,\ and faculty from the College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines are invited to present research and scholarly activities (at any stage) in Social Work, Nursing, and Nutrition & Dietetics.

Deadlines
- Submissions for 2025 will open in February 2025.
- The final deadline to submit a presentation title for inclusion in CNPD Research & Scholarship Day is Sunday, March 30th, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. (no exceptions).
- Final Posters for printing or video submissions must be submitted by Sunday, April 13th, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. (no exceptions).
- Changes to topic after submission: If your topic and/or your presenter names change, please email changes to UND.cnpd.research.office@und.edu. This helps us ensure the catalog is correct.

Eligible Participants
CNPD students and faculty from Nursing, Nutrition & Dietetics and Social Work who are engaged in research, scholarship and creative work through thesis, dissertations, non-thesis projects, faculty projects, and independent studies, or who have conducted substantial research as a part of coursework.
- CNPD students or faculty may either present solo research, or if research was done collaboratively, they may present with other co-presenters.
- Students enrolled in on-campus programs must participate in the in-person event (no exceptions). Students enrolled in a fully online program may choose to participate virtually or in-person if they wish to travel to campus.
Awards
Visitors attending the event can vote on a student presentation, "Crowd Favorite Award," for each CNPD department.
Faculty attending the event can vote on a student presentation, "Faculty Favorite Award," for each CNPD department.
In-Person Participation
CNPD students will present their work with a poster. The event is in an open house format, meaning visitors will peruse the posters and may ask questions. An integral component of the presentation will be an explanation of work understandably to a non-specialist attending the event, including fellow students, faculty, and other members of the campus community.
A bag lunch is provided for in-person presenters at the conclusion of the presentations.
Poster Creation
Students can use the PowerPoint template below which contains two design options, or create their own custom design at the required size of 32 inches wide by 24 inches high (additional help on resizing)
Adding both a UND logo and a CNPD logo (nested into the above template) to a poster is strongly encouraged
Submit for Printing
The College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines will pay the cost of one (1) poster printing.
Submitted posters for printing must be:
- 1 page designed at 32 inches wide by 24 inches high
- Save as a PDF
- Name your PDF files with your lastname-firstname
- Email or send via Teams message the PDF file to UND.cnpd.research.office@UND.edu
- All email submissions must be received by Sunday, April 13th, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. (no exceptions).
- You will receive a confirmation acknowledging receipt no more than 48 business hours after completing submission.
- Changes to Topic after submission: If your topic title and/or your presenter names change, please email changes to UND.cnpd.research.office@und.edu. This helps us ensure the catalog is correct.
Student Time Commitment
- Student check-in is available from 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Students are asked to arrive by 9:30 a.m.
- The public viewing will last from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- A social, lunch for presenters and the presentation of awards will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- During the public viewing, students are expected to be at their poster and ready to present or answer questions for anyone who may stop by to review the presentation.
Virtual Participation (Distance/Online Learning Students Only)
The video participation option is only available to students who are Distance/Online Learning students.
Distance/Online Learning students can present their posters via a prerecorded presentation and PowerPoint. An integral component of the presentation will be an explanation of work understandably to a non-specialist, including fellow students, faculty, and other members of the campus community. The videos will be available to guests attending the in person event to view on their personal devices via URL scan codes and will be shared with all participants ahead of the event via email.
Video Creation
- We advise your presentation be no longer than five minutes.
- Students will present their work in PowerPoint. The slideshow can contain up to a maximum of three static (not animated and not video) slides
- Students can decide how best to design their PowerPoint slides, but they should remember that the content should be large enough to see and read on the screen.
- Adding a UND logo and a CNPD logo to a poster is strongly encouraged. If you would like to, you can use a UND Branded PowerPoint.
- It is recommended that a student records their presentation with their camera turned on. Students can use various tools to record their presentations as long as the tool used to record the presentation provides a downloadable file or a link that allows downloading. - Please name your video files with your lastname-firstname prior to submission. The file will be renamed and posted to include your presentation title.
- The video presentation file (mp4/other video file OR a public viewable link) must be submitted by either email or Teams message to UND.cnpd.research.office@UND.edu no later than Sunday, April 13th, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. (no exceptions).
- You will receive a confirmation acknowledging receipt no more than 48 business hours after completing submission.
