Faculty Innovative Summer Grant Development Award

Purpose

To bolster our college’s applications for external grant funding for research and scholarship, Dean Shogren and the CNPD’s Research and Scholarship Committee are pleased to announce funding to support summer work for faculty to collaborate and produce an interdisciplinary and/or innovative external grant application.

Deadlines

Summer Grant applications must be submitted no later than March 31, 2025, by 5 p.m.

Funding

Three, $10,000 awards for compensation to work on an external grant submission. Please note that funds cannot be used to support salaries of faculty members in positions outside of the CNPD or travel.

  1. Half of the funds will cover the work to prepare the grant proposal during the summer semester May 16, 2025 – August 15, 2025.
  2. The second half of the funds will be awarded upon submission of the Verification of grant proposal submission must be submitted to receive the second half of the funds. The deadline to submit the grant is December 31, 2025.

Eligibility

  • Two interdisciplinary $10,000 awards:
    • If two CNPD faculty from different departments want to submit for one shared award, they will split the funding.
    • If one CNPD faculty plans to work with someone across campus or outside the University, the CNPD award can only cover the CNPD employee’s salary; we cannot cover another department’s faculty member.
  • One open $10,000 award:
    • This award is not required to be interdisciplinary (but it can be). However, this award does need to include a CNPD applicant with one or more co-applicants from the same or different UND departments or colleges, or from outside the University.
  • Awards are open to all CNPD faculty (tenure, tenure track, and clinical) who have at least a 60% appointment with CNPD.

Timeline

  • Time period for receiving 50% of funding will be May 16, 2025, to August 15, 2025, for writing the grant proposal. The grant proposal must be prepared during these months.
  • The grant must be submitted in Novelution, by August 30,
  • Verification of grant submission to the funding agency by December 31, 2025, unless negotiated with the Dean.

Project Description and Funding Alignment with RFA: Describe the project that you plan on further developing for submission to an external funding agency, and more importantly, detail how your proposed project is aligned with the Request for Applications described earlier on the title page (500 to 750 words).

  10. Attach Biosketch or CV of all Primary Investigator(s) and/or Project Lead(s)
  11. Attach Historical Grant Support at the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines (Include copies of final reports related to this or other CNPD-funded projects, if applicable.)
